Cultural Competency for Educators
Cultural Competency for Educators is a PELSB-approved course that meets licensure renewal requirements for K-12 educators in Minnesota who need to complete cultural competency training. The program covers the following topics and is worth 16 CEUs:
Understanding, Uncovering, and Overcoming Our Biases
Supporting Students from Indigenous Nations
Increasing Religious Literacy
Recognizing Systemic Racism
Supporting LGBTQ Youth
Language Diversity
Students with Disabilities and Mental Health Concerns
Culturally Responsive PBIS
The program is 100% online, self-guided, which means you work through the program on your own schedule.
To complete the program, you will work your way through eight modules (approx. 1-2 hours each), in which you will read articles, watch videos, complete reflection exercises, and read what other educators had to say. At the end of the program, you will complete a 10-question quiz to demonstrate that you've successfully met the learning outcomes for the program.
